The ladies winning streak continues...

Home to Chiltern Flames, Monday 19th January 2015, Won 57-48

The ladies made a quick start with Robyn and Becky making early scores and the scene looked set for another dominant display. However an injury to Katie which took her out of the game (and was later confirmed as a fractured elbow) shook the team and they seemed to lose their way. The opposition number 11 took advantage from the foul line and the ladies quickly found themselves down 9-4. A time out and a couple of spirited plays from Alex and the ladies refound their composure. An unanswered run of 6 points gave the ladies a slender 10-9 advantage at the end of the quarter.

The second period was a similar tight affair with the ladies struggling to make their shots but a quick succession of baskets from Milena, Alex and Becky started to open a small gap. At half time the lead was 6 points.

The third period was the highlight of the game as the ladies found their shots and made life difficult for the opposition with some excellent steals. Three 3-pointers from Elaine in the period and a 16-0 run made the scoreboard much happier reading. An injury to Alex late in the third that also put her out of the game was another blow to the ladies though. Then with Robyn fouling out in the 4th it was again a case of 5 players left standing. The lead established in the third proved key as the flames started to claw their way back but there was too much to do the ladies played the clock and battled to a 9 point victory.

This was a tough game and a good one to win.
