26-Apr-15: Blackhawks claim joint 3rd place in Surrey League

After a no-show from Feltham, our u10s went straight into the semi-final of the Surrey League where they lost 12-34 to the Baltic Stars to finish joint 3rd for the season.

Considering that our Blackhawks had 1W and 5L by 25 January and propped up the table comprising 11 teams, it is a small miracle that they managed to deliver 8W and 2L since then and more than deserved their place in the semis.

Taking away the first quarter (0-22) when our players were intimidated by their opponent's height, skill and strength, the rest of the game was a more exciting 12-12 affair. Although we could never win this game, 12-34 is a very complimentary score for the Lithuanian team.

For three quarters, our brave Blackhawks defended with heart and commitment we have not seen before. We saw players diving for the ball, fighting for 50/50 balls and passing long for the fast-break. It all bods well for next season when most of these young boys graduate into the U12 squad. WELL DONE the boys and a BIG THANK YOU to the parents who have ferried their children tirelessly from venue to venue all year.
