Anybody playing, coaching, officiating or volunteering with the Blackhawks must become a Club member and pay the appropriate fee. All members will then be registered with England Basketball.
The cost of keeping the Club afloat is significant. Last year our total expenditure exceeded £50,000. The most significant costs are venue hire, payments to local and national basketball governing bodies (to cover registration of players, squads and league and tournament entry fees) and match officials. The Club also provides balls, match day kit, training kit and equipment required for training and games.
The Club is funded by the registration fees and regular subs that are collected from its players and members. There are occasionally opportunities to obtain additional funding from the local authorities and other governing bodies, which the Club's Executive Committee actively pursues, but these are few and often not applicable.
In previous seasons we have operated on a 'pay as you play' basis. However this approach leaves the Club financially vulnerable, as the number of players attending training sessions throughout the season can be variable.
In order for the Club to meet the costs of training facilities, equipment, kit and competitive games, it is necessary to seek the commitment of our members for the whole season by paying by monthly Standing Order and an initial registration fee will be payable with the membership form followed by monthly payments, paid by standing order, by the 7th of each month.
